Jon Favreau To Make ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Into A ‘Star Wars’ Feature Film

It's your resident Star Wars freak here, Davey Mac (or as I sometimes call myself: Darth David)...and I've got some excellent news for fans of the Saga! Lucasfilm has announced that Jon Favreau, the creator of the phenomenal series The Mandalorian, will be making a new Star Wars movie...and production will begin this year!

The movie will be called The Mandalorian & Grogu and if you still have not seen this fantastic Star Wars series...I highly recommend you see it. As a longtime fan of the Galaxy that George Lucas created, Favreau embraces many of Lucas' philosophies of fun, action, mythology, amazing special effects, great storytelling, and heart. Favreau writes and oversees every Mando episode and has done a splendid job. The story started small...and has become epic.

Meanwhile, Dave Filoni, a very influential force in Star Wars these days and creator of the excellent Ahsoka series, will be a producer on the film. Filoni is the last direct apprentice of George Lucas...who taught Filoni the rules of Star Wars when the two of them collaborated on the tremendous animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This is also good news for fans of Mando as Filoni brings his expertise of all things SW to the movie.

Personally speaking, I think this is a home run for Lucasfilm. They haven't made a new Star Wars picture in five years...it's time that the Galaxy gets back on the big screen. And alongside the exciting flick Rogue One...The Mandalorian remains one of the most unifying Star Wars projects for a fanbase that was left divided after the Sequel Trilogy. Hopefully, Disney is getting back to basics...and I'm all for it! Scroll down for some great Mando clips!
