Santa Claus School

MIDLAND, MI – OCTOBER 16: Santa School Dean Tom Valent (left) leads the group in singing the Christmas song Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer with Student Wallace Cady, of Towanda, Pennsylvania during the Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School workshop on October 16, 2008 in Midland, Michigan. The legend of Santa Claus has endured many centuries. The Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School is becoming legendary as it is in it’s 71st year of classes. Student Santas gather from around the world to share their common love of Christmas and the magical spirit of Santa Claus. They share their stories, learn common traditions, and values that started at this school from the beginning. (Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)

One of the best places to do all of that under one roof is the Hackensack Meridian Health Theater at the Basie Center for the Arts. The non profit Count Basie Center for the Arts is New Jersey’s premier center for the cultural arts, dedicated to fostering powerful, inclusive artistic experiences and creative exchange of ideas.

The Basie does more than just entertain.

According to it's mission statement on the website www.thebasie.org , the Basie mission is to inspire, educate and entertain through its distinct and engaging cultural and artistic offerings that embrace and amplify the diversity of the region.  As a nonprofit organization, the Basie is committed to enriching the community’s quality of life by generating opportunities for participation in the arts, partnering with schools, collaborating with other mission-based organizations and driving regional economic prosperity.

A trip to the Basie can be just the thing to put you into that Holiday Spirit!

Imagine, a stroll down chilly Broad street in Red Bank, then you turn onto Monmouth street and see that shining marquee, you know it's time for fun! This holiday however, you may be surprised the vast array of Holiday entertainment and events going on both onstage and off on the Basie properties. From concerts, to films. Children's shows, to wine sipping adventures. A Christmas Marketplace and more all await you this December, as Red Bank comes alive for the Holidays, and the Hackensack Meridian Theater at the Basie Center for the Arts becomes the center of the entertainment universe for Monmouth County residents and their friends and family. So find a show or event, grab your tickets, and grab the season by the antlers!

Believe it or not, Jimmy’s first job was overnights at a Christian Radio Station. He claims he got into radio because like Rocky Balboa once said, “cause I can’t sing or dance.” Jimmy loves to write about all local happenings, especially around his town of Toms River. Favorite Pastime (other than masturbation, of course): Cheering for the Yankees, and crying for the J-E-T-S!!! Favorite Food: Hot Sauce…I collect ’em! Favorite Drink: PRUNO…look it up, if you dare! Favorite Movies: The Exorcist, Planet of The Apes (the original), To Kill a Mockingbird, Annie Hall, and of course GF 1 & GF 2…I heard that’s how the real fans refer to them. Favorite Movie Line: easy…Murry-Caddyshack-“big hitter, the Lama”…f#$*in’ riot! Best Rat Rock Bands: STP, VH, ZEP, PEARL JAM, FOOS, PEPPERS,AC/DC Favorite New Bands: Glorious Sons, Rival Sons, Dirty Honey Most Embarrassing Moment: the moment my mother reads this shit! Best Day: I know a lot of folks say this, but it’s true: the day my little girl Jynell and my boy Big D were born! Next to that, it would have to be the day I was baked on earth day in Central Park and met Keefer Sutherland…baked too, I believe.
