2 People Injured In Boat Explosion At Old Bridge Marina

This is just scary all around, as a boat explosion happened yesterday at the Old Bridge Marina in Middlesex County. At around 3:19 pm, Wednesday afternoon the police were called to get over there and find out what was going on. According to the Old Bridge Police Facebook page, the local emergency responders, including police, fire, and EMS teams arrived at the scene to assist the injured and secure the area. Police are saying that this explosion does not seem suspicious. The Marina is currently closed for a further investigation. Here Is What Else We Know... After the explosion happened, one of the two men who were most impacted by it was, Michael Sorger, of Perth Amboy. He has said that he and his friend were just going to go fishing but had stopped for fuel and it turned into a scene out of an action movie when their boat exploded, also said "It was like a bomb went off right next to me," sending them both to the hospital. Flames went across the local waterways and thick black smoke filled the sky. A neighbor named Richard Buffi, was on record saying "It could be heard and felt from at least half a mile down the road. I heard a loud explosion, and the whole house shook. We didn’t know what it was. The windows rattled and it was really a loud explosion, it was like a shock wave.” Michael Sorger says he suffered first-degree burns to his stomach and a bunch of cuts and scrapes. His friend was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson with burns to his face and legs. Hopefully, everyone will be okay from all this and we wish them a fast recovery.
