I like the occasional visit to a good all you can eat buffet. Anytime we go to Atlantic City, we tend to choose all you can eat buffets for the vast selection of dishes and the best bang for your buck.
The only time we choose conventional dining while in Atlantic City, is when we’re celebrating an anniversary or a birthday.
Our favorite place to dine in AC is Capriccio’s, located in Resorts Casino Hotel.
Excellent food, great atmosphere, and white glove service. Absolute perfection every time.
For all you can eat joints, we like the Borgata and the Hard Rock. Thank goodness we only go a couple of times a year.
All you can eat buffet visits for me are a special treat. It’s hard not to go hog wild when you have over a hundred different dishes staring you in the face.
The best way to approach a buffet is to survey the items first. Start with the appetizers that appeal to you most and take just one plate at a time to your table. You have to pace yourself.
When you’re done, sit for a few minutes, digest a little.
Next, go in for the entrées and the sides. Again, peruse the buffet and only take the things that you really enjoy. Taking a slice of turkey from the carving station just because it’s available is a no no.
If you’re salivating over the prime rib, then focus only on the prime rib. You don’t want to fill up on things that don’t excite you.
When it comes to the side dishes and the desserts, rinse and repeat.
I find that planning out a strategy before you dive in is the key to fully enjoying your buffet experience. If you don’t have a plan and just throw a little bit of everything on your plate, you’re just going to be overstuffed, unhappy, and filled with regret.
It’s been about 7 or 8 months since I’ve hit a buffet, and I feel good about that. I also look forward to visiting a buffet in South Jersey I’ve never been to. I’ll let you know which one in the list below.
I recently got into a discussion with a few food loving friends about finding good buffets here in the Garden State.
I followed that conversation by browsing through a few of my favorite food pages on social media to see what buffets were mentioned most.
South Jersey folks had a lot to say about buffets, and not just the ones in Atlantic City.
I put together a list based on my conversations and the social media responses to all you can eat buffets here New Jersey.
Enjoy!
