There are some fine homemade candy stores throughout the Jersey Shore. From hard candies, to chocolates. Fudge to caramels.

If it can be made, they are making it at our wonderful local Jersey Shore candy crafters. Furthermore there is a rich history when it comes to local candy shops here. Most notably with our famous boardwalks. Candy shops on the boardwalk have been around since the 1800’s. Meanwhile, most people connect those olden days and the boardwalk with the advent of Salt Water Taffy. However fudge and chocolate have always been a big part of local candy and confection shops along the boards for generations.

Perhaps the most wonderful thing about the locally owned shops is there true connection to the community.

From locally sourced ingredients that go into the candies, to employing people from the local communities. Right down to the generations of children, and their children indulging on delicious treat and making memories. Whether it’s the local downtown chocolate store. A candy maker on the highway into our out of a seaside community, or as we said, the good old board walk candy shop.  These relics from days gone by are alive and well here at the Shore, and the perfect special treat for the important trick or treaters in your life.

Lastly, while locally crafted candies do tend to be a bit pricier than the store bought stuff, maybe you can mix it in with the cheaper faire.

Meanwhile, as my buddy Carl said, just keep it for the kids who you really like, or who’s dad’s got something cool, like a man cave with a kegerator.
