Pete Davidson To Do Community Service After Reckless Driving
After Pete Davidson was charged with reckless driving last month, the actor faced further sentencing. As we previously reported, the Bupkis star, 29, crashed his car into a Beverly Hills home back in March. Davidson lost control of his car while driving at high speed. His girlfriend, co-star Chase Sui Wonders, was in the passenger seat. There were no reported injuries. But Pete’s Mercedes went over a curb, hit a fire hydrant, and ran into the side of a house.
He wasn’t arrested at the time, and no drugs or alcohol were determined to be involved in the crash. The homeowners also didn’t press any charges. Their 16-year-old daughter was home at the time reading, and her father later told the gossip website TMZ that she was “a bit traumatized” from the incident.

Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly at the time: “Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision. We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences. In 2022, traffic fatalities in Los Angeles have reached the highest levels seen in 20 years. This is an alarming trend that we cannot ignore. As a result, it’s crucial that we take all allegations of reckless driving seriously and hold those responsible accountable.”
Pete’s Court Orders
On Monday (July 24), the Los Angeles County District Attorney ordered the Saturday Night Live alum to complete 50 hours of community service after being charged with one misdemeanor count of reckless driving. The community service will be completed in tandem with an 18-month diversion program. This includes educational visits to a hospital and morgue, the District Attorney’s Office told People in a statement. Additionally, the comedian was also ordered to complete 12 hours of traffic school, pay restitution and “obey all laws.”

Davidson will complete the court orders in his home state of New York. His legal counsel noted that Pete will likely complete his community services hours with the New York Fire Department, where his father Scott Davidson worked before tragically passing during the 9/11 attacks. In response, the NYC Fire stated: “As the son of a 9/11 hero, we would be happy to provide Mr. Davidson an opportunity to do his required community service.”
