March 24 is National Cocktail Day, and we have the perfect recipes to celebrate!

National Cocktail Day is March 24, and it is certainly a day we should celebrate! Especially being on a Monday this year, you are going to need something to start your week off right. Many of us here at 95.9 WRAT are big beer drinkers, but every now and then we can enjoy a cocktail. I asked the staff to give me their best cocktail recipe so I can share it with you!

There's a bit of a debate between what is a cocktail versus a mixed drink. I say, as long as it has alcohol in it, who cares! It's all serving the same purpose. Now, some of these recipes are pretty self-explanatory, but hey, not everyone is a skilled bartender. Some people may need a little help. However, you will need some tools before you start mixing up these drinks.

First of all, you're going to need a shaker. This could be anything from a Cobbler Shaker, which has a lid with the built-in stainer, a Boston Shaker, which is essentially two metal tins, or even just a jar with a lid. As long as it won't spill all over your kitchen while you shake the ingredients, you'll be fine (believe me, been there, done that). You will also need a strainer (if you don't opt for the built-in version). Again, use what you have, could even be a colander if that's all you have! Lastly, if you're not an experienced bartender who can free pour, you will need something to measure out the ingredients. I personally like to use a jigger, which is that little double-sided metal tool usually seen in bar kits. With these tools, you should be ready to make the most amazing drinks for cocktail day! When you do make them, be sure to post a picture and tag us on social media. And remember, always drink responsibly!

As an avid coffee lover, of course an espresso martini is my go-to cocktail!

Now you may be thinking "wait, doesn't a cape codder typically have cranberry juice?" and the answer would be yes. But this is JIMMY'S Cape Codder, so he can do whatever he wants. Plus, no cranberry juice just means it's healthier right?!

A classic French 75, but make it WRAT themed!

What else would you expect from a guy who goes by "Atomic" Rob?

We are now entering the "possible mixed drink, self-explainable" section of recipes. The name of this drink comes from using 7UP and Seagram's 7 whiskey, but any will do.

Marie always makes her whisky and cola with Crown Whiskey!

You never see Norm at a bar without a Gin and Tonic. No specifications, no instructions, just gin and tonic. I think even the most inexperienced bartender can figure that one out.
