The 5,000-square-foot dispensary, co-owned by the rapper and actor Ice-T and the cannabis entrepreneur and former Playboy model Charis Burrett, aims to provide cannabis consumers with a unique offering with an emphasis on impact in the local community and on high-quality products.
"I've dedicated my life and career to giving back and paving the way for minorities. As a New Jersey native, I'm excited for the opportunity legalization offers our community, and I look forward to ushering in a new era for cannabis in the state," said Ice-T .
Designed to showcase a diverse mix of New Jersey cannabis brands, curated accessories, and limited-edition merchandise, the dispensary will also house a new General Admission Lounge, which will debut alongside the new location in late 2023. Customers will experience a friendly and elevated shopping environment, along with a promise of hiring locally and well as giving to charities that focus on the community.
To help celebrate opening day, Ice-T is giving customers 25% off their orders if they show his social media post at checkout. Early shoppers will also receive exclusive giveaways as part of the grand opening festivities. A larger celebration is scheduled for Apr. 19.
Established in California in 2019, The Medicine Woman has become a trusted cannabis brand with over 100 products in its own private-label line. The New Jersey venue marks a significant step forward in eastward expansion as New Jersey opens up its recreational cannabis market. The dispensary received approval from the Jersey City cannabis control board in July 2022 and, in January 2024, a Class 5 Retailer license from the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission.
Ice-T is the latest A-lister to jump into cannabis in the state, following NBA great Al Harrington and Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon. The Medicine Woman has a mission grounded in equity, access, and education during its opening and looks to set the standard for dispensaries here in New Jersey and across the country.
