The Morning Rat Race

12 Jan 1991: Kicker Scott Norwood #11 of the Buffalo Bills misses a 47-yard field goal wide right at the end of regulation during Super Bowl XXV against the New York Giants at Tampa Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The Giants won the game, 20-19.

We’re looking at the Top 5 Sports Chokes Of All Time with the list below!   Get ready for the heartbreak with these classic (and tragic) sports videos!   BOOM!

  • 5.) Chris Webber Calls Timeout When Michigan Didn't Have Any Left---Wolverines Lose March Madness Finals

Poor Chris Webber.   Honestly.   The guy called timeout at the end of the 1993 National Championship Game between Michigan and North Carolina.   The result was a technical foul and a heartbreaking loss for the Wolverines.

  • 4.) Greg Norman Chokes Away The '96 Masters

Greg Norman is a golfing legend and at different points of his Hall Of Fame career he was ranked Number One.   But he never won The Masters.   In 1996…as he headed into the final round on Sunday…Norman had a six-stroke lead…but blew it to the great Nick Faldo.

  • 3.) J.R. Smith Loses Track Of Score---Blows Game In NBA Finals

LeBron James looked like he was going out of his mind with this one.   With the NBA Finals Game 1 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors tied with seconds to play…the Cavs’ J.R. Smith dribbled out the clock rather than passing to…oh, I don’t know…LEBRON JAMES…for a last-second shot.   It was later revealed that Smith thought the Cavs were winning…which is why he dribbled out the clock.

  • 2.) Norwood Wide Right---Bills Lose Super Bowl

The New York Giants and Buffalo Bills had a classic of a Super Bowl in 1991.   With the Giants leading 20 to 19 with just seconds to go…Bills kicker Scott Norwood entered the game for a game-winning field goal.   Unfortunately for Scott…a fairytale ending would not arrive.

  • 1.) "It Gets Through Buckner...And The Mets Win It!" (Bill Buckner's E)

Man…this is a tough one.   Even if you hate the Boston Red Sox…you gotta feel for Bill Buckner.   In a career that spanned over 20 seasons…Buckner was actually a career .289 hitter with over 2,700 hits.   But it was this classic choke-job that ultimately led the New York Mets to win the 1986 World Series.   Even though the Buckner error occurred in Game 6…and the Sox could have won Game 7 still…the mistake seemed to take all of the wind out of Boston’s sails.
