With warmer than expected February temperatures, thoughts cannot help but veer toward Spring and Summer fun, like Campground activities at the Jersey Shore!

Old Man Winter can’t hold us down much longer. Soon we’ll be packing up the pickup, van, popup, third wheel, or RV, and heading out into the great wide open for some rest and relaxation outdoors among nature. Many area Campgrounds stay open all year long, while others have a Spring through Fall schedule. Still others are only open Memorial Day through Labor Day, basically.

It’s in your best interest to click on the Campground website links provided below to see when each area is open, as well as accommodations. For example, in my family, we only cabin camp. Why? Firstly, I don’t own an RV (yet), popup or third wheel. Secondly, my wife absolutely HATES HATES HATES tent camping. now matter how comfortable the air mattress, or how secure the tent, Lovey feels she’s going to be eaten either by bugs or bears. Hence, we cabin camp, and it’s great.

Another thing from my experience that is good to check on is amenities at these campgrounds. Pools, water slides, sprinklers for wet Summer fun. An arcade or game room, public restrooms, on site restaurant, and perhaps most important of all, a general store. You are sure to forget to pack something, or not bring enough of one thing or another. From toilet paper to toothpaste, from Folgers to firewood, a good general store can really be a camping lifesaver.

Lastly, you most definitely want to find out fun activities to do around the area. Of course here at the Jersey Shore that’s never a problem. However, you should still look for little local hidden gems in the vicinity of the campground, especially if you aren’t familiar with that area in particular. Parks for kids and dogs, a local winery for mom, or brewery for dad. Maybe even a local flea market or street fair can make an already enjoyable mini vacation that much better!
