On the heels of yesterday’s “5 Great Local Toms River Bars For Watching Football”, I have decided this needs to be a week long series. Unfortunately there are only so many bars I have watched football at in specific towns. Luckily Bricktown is one of them. My wife and I used to live in Point Pleasant and Brick back in the early 2000’s, and while there have been many changes to the football watching landscape in Brick, there are still some old staples and new friends to visit on a crisp early Sunday afternoon.
I feel the need to pay homage to a few of the dearly departed bars in Brick from which I have pulled up a stool and enjoyed an ice cold beer and some fumblin’ and bumblin’. First, for me anyway, has to be Jack and Mike’s Brickhouse on Cedarbridge Avenue. It closed down during the pandemic, and is now a very popular pancake place. However, for over 10 years that was a great friggin’ place to watch football. The patrons were into it, the bartenders and waitresses were into it, really a great time. Except for that beer soaked carpet in the bar. Oof. But I digress.
Next, I have to give some love to a place I would hit up about 3-4 times a season. Quaker Steak and Lube, also on Cedarbridge Ave. The Wings, The Sauces, The Beer Towers, and the giveaways were always awesome at the Lube! Finally I will give it up to the old Petersons Riviera Inn, on Route 70. One of the first places I started going to watch football when I moved down the Shore. Great food. Gone, but not forgotten. In fact you may see a distant relative of Peterson’s on our “5 Great Local Brick Bars For Watching Football”. So with that said, pull up a stool and enjoy!
