Asbury Park Indoor Mask Mandate To Go In Effect January 7th
The City of Asbury Park has declared an indoor mask mandate which will go into effect on Friday, January 7 at 12pm. The executive order will be in effect until further notice and is due to the high rate of transmission of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.
According to the City of Asbury Park’s Emergency Management Coordinator, masks will be require in all indoor public settings: restaurants, bars, gyms, retail stores, salons, among others in the area.
“As Mayor & Council, our number one priority is the health and safety of our community,” said Mayor John Moor in news release, “By having more people wear masks indoors, we hope to reduce the spread and keep people out of hospitals to minimize the strain on our healthcare system and potentially save lives. Our goal is to shorten the time it will take to get back to some kind of normalcy without negatively impacting our local businesses and residents in their daily lives.”
