TOMS RIVER – Walk-ins are now welcome at the COVID 19 testing site located at Ocean County College on Hooper Avenue.
The testing hours for Ocean County residents will continue to be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. While appointments are suggested, walk-ins are now welcome.
Immediate Care began handling the operations of the coronavirus testing site, located at Ocean County College on March 26. The tests are conducted indoors at the Gateway Building on the Ocean County College campus.
According to Immediate Care, the primary COVID 19 test offered at the OCC testing site is a Saliva PCR test. Results are received within 48 to 72 hours. Patients can also receive the nasopharyngeal PCR test, or a rapid antigen test.
“Making the change from the Ocean County Health Department and hospital personnel to Immediate Care has helped us in our efforts to expand our vaccination distribution,” said Ocean County Public Health Coordinator Daniel Regenye. “We worked in close coordination with the Ocean County Board of Commissioners to make this transition.”
To schedule an appointment for a COVID 19 test at the college, residents should visit https://www.solvhealth.com/book-online/gNNVXg. Identification and insurance cards should be brought to the testing site. Appointments can also be accessed at the Ocean County Health Department website at ochd.org or through Immediate Care’s website, www.immcare.com.
Ocean County Commissioner Gerry P. Little, who is liaison to the Ocean County Health Department, noted that more than 30,000 COVID 19 tests have been administered at the college site since it opened.
As of April 7, Ocean County has recorded more than 61,000 cases of the coronavirus. The Ocean County Health Department has now administered over 84,000 vaccines.
The testing site located off of Hooper Avenue, provides tests for both symptomatic and asymptomatic County residents. Please note, this location does not provide the COVID-19 vaccine. Proof of residency is required. All emergency responders can also access testing at the site.
“Testing shows if you have the virus even if you are asymptomatic,” Regenye has said. “This can help reduce the spread of the virus so long as people quarantine.
“We have always encouraged our residents to get tested,” Regenye said.
