Have you been avoiding take out food because you think you may get infected with the coronavirus? According to Benjamin Chapman, a food safety specialist at North Carolina State University, you should be ok. Dr. Angela Rasmussen of Columbia University agrees.
In fact, Dr. Rasmussen says, “If the virus is ingested, our stomach would actually get rid of the virus.” She also says that the highest chance of contracting the coronavirus would be the face to face interaction with the person delivering your food. So, no face to face interaction or any direct contact with your delivery driver. Put the food delivery on a credit or debit card when placing your order, and make sure to include a tip for the driver. Bon appetit!
