Jersey Burger Lovers Tell Us Where To Go For The Best Burgers In The Garden State – Part 2 (UPDATED – March 2024)

Actual human beings in our great state of New Jersey are my guides when it comes to finding out where the best of anything can be located. I actually put in the work to present an HONEST outcome. I never create a list that is NOT based on other people’s opinions. There are times I insert my own opinion into the mix, but one person’s opinion just isn’t enough. It’s all about the people and the food they love.

It’s time to find out where to go to find the best burgers in New Jersey according to the people. Thanks to all the fine folks who participated in my survey for pointing me in the direction of where to find these juicy hunks of meaty goodness. I appreciate all of you. Here’s part 2 of this 4 part series.

  • Outlaw's Burger Barn & Creamery - 1370 S Main Rd, Vineland, NJ 08360

    The name alone got my attention. Mandy has these burgers at the top of her list. They serve fresh ground burgers on fresh made rolls! That Bacon Butter Burger on the menu has me interested.

  • John and Molly's - 1291 Woodlane Rd, Eastampton Township, NJ 08060

    A fresh ground half pound custom blend Black Angus Beef Burger  accompanied by a nice beer selection. The whole menu is appealing.

  • Shut Up and Eat - 804 Main St, Toms River, NJ 08753

    I’ve been here many times for breakfast and I loved the experience each and every time. It’s a fun place with kitschy decor and servers dressed in pajamas. You can’t help but feel welcome in this cozy Toms River establishment. I’ve been told to return for lunch and try at least one of their 30 plus burger selections.  Just a word of caution, go over the downloadable menu at their website before you go, it’s enormous!

  • The Committed Pig - 165 Main St, Manasquan, NJ With Locations In Morristown & Summit, N.J.

       165 Main Street in Manasquan is where this food heaven is. All burgers are double patties made with a Pat Lafrieda blend of short rib, hangar steak, and brisket.  

     

  • Beacon 70 - 799 NJ-70, Brick Township, NJ 08723

    When they first opened several years ago, I ordered a flight of sliders and I remember them being good.  They do have some tasty looking burger options on the menu and Steve D. claims he always orders a burger and a beer at the bar.

  • River Of Beer - 133 Main St, Bloomingdale, NJ 07403

    The burgers are all made from scratch, and their meat comes from farms in Sussex, New Jersey. The cows eat the same grains used in the Ramstein Beer on tap. They constantly rotate the huge variety of beer selections, so odds are you might not ever have the same beer twice. Burgers and Beer, that’s why we’re here! Check out “The Gobbler” on their menu. It’s deep fried stuffing wrapped turkey breast with homemade cranberry sauce, and gravy. But if I’m going for a burger, that “Whiskey Maple Burger” would be my choice.

  • Nic’s Hometown Tavern - 180 NJ-36, Hazlet, NJ 07730

    I want to thank Colleen for the heads up about Nic’s. She was the first to mention them, and an acquaintance of mine casually mentioned them because he loves that “Hey Burger” is located inside Nic’s, cooking up smash style burgers and more.  It looks like a warm neighborhood bar where everybody knows your name.

     

  • Rocky Hill Inn - 137 Washington St, Rocky Hill, NJ 08553

    A historic Colonial inn houses this gastropub with multiple rooms, craft beers & American cuisine. Well known for their disco fries and  for being featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drives and Dives,this place is no dive, it’s an institution according to those who listed this place as a favorite place to grab a fantastic burger. This place is on my bucket list for both the history and the food.

  • Crossroads Bar & Grill - 151 Philadelphia Ave, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215

    Several people from a lot of different food pages mentioned this place for their creative burgers cooked to perfection. The list of beers on tap was also mentioned as was the “Cowboy Tots.”

     

     

  • The Grand Tavern - 1105 6th Ave, Neptune City, NJ 07753

    This place is open from 5 to 10 pm daily and the crew from my favorite food pages give their 8 ounce burger with gruyere, bacon onion jus, and aioli a 10 out 10. The photo of this burger looks like an 11! Their small plates menu is NOT the usual fare for a local bar, it has fried sweetbreads and fried sunchokes as options.

     

  • Skeeters Pub - 7 Coles Rd, Blackwood, NJ 08012

    Pamela Jean from the South Jersey food page calls this place to our attention. They have a really good burger and a diverse menu with vegetarian options. On their website, they claim to have “The Best Bar Food in South Jersey.”

  • Holstens Brookdale Confectionery - 1063 Broad St, Bloomfield, NJ 07003

    Joseph D. and a few other folks claim they make a really good burger. This is also the place where the final scene of “The Sopranos” was filmed. Was one of their burgers Tony’s final meal? Don’t just go for the burger or the historic television moment, go for their delicious sundaes and desserts. 

     

  • Mel's Butcher Box - : 10 W Railroad Ave, Tenafly, NJ 07670

    Jeff  and my friend Holly share the opinion that Mel’s is a great place for a burger as well as a prime rib sandwich.  Mel, aka Melanie gets her meat from  Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors and that’s reason enough to order a burger from Mel’s. One bite of this burger and it will be evident that this burger belongs at the top of your list.

  • New Park Tavern - 575 West Side Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07304

    Tommy Said, “Follow me to Jersey City for a bangin’ burger.” This hidden gem gives off traditional Irish pub vibes. They have a limited menu because they focus on what they do best.  I’ve read so much about the patrons and the staff being warm and friendly. Warm and friendly people coupled with good food means you’ll come back again and again.

     

  • Miracle Pub - 201 NJ-37, Toms River, NJ 08755

    Every burger I’ve had here has been a hit. Susan, Gary, and several other folks have this place in their top 5 for burgers.  A half pound Black Angus Burger cooked to your liking and prepared in a variety of ways from “The Cuban” to “The Jersey Shore.”  My personal favorite is a  Patty Melt with mushrooms, grilled onions, and melty Swiss.

  • Ader's Tavern - 1321 Florence Ave, Union Beach, NJ 07735

    Timothy said this place has been open longer than he’s been around and this is where he and his friends go for a great burger after a night out seeing a show at the PNC Bank Arts Center. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. Plus, they’re open for breakfast.

     

  • Bovine Burgers - 76b W Railroad Ave, Jamesburg, NJ 08831

    Yolanda told me that we must try a burger made from their 3 cut custom blend fresh never frozen meat, and when we order the burger of our choice, it must be accompanied by their “Diablo Aioli Rings” and one of their shakes, malts, or floats. She suggested the Salted Caramel shake loaded with extra caramel. That sounds like my kind of meal.

     

  • Windward Tavern - 292 Princeton Ave, Brick Township, NJ 08724

    Great neighborhood tavern where their wings are King, and the burgers are fit for this queen.
