Star Wars fans across the Galaxy….get ready for fun! The premiere of Ahsoka, the latest series in the Saga, is TONIGHT at 9 PM (Eastern) on Disney Plus!
The show features Rosario Dawson as the titular character, Larks Mikkelsen as the sinister Grand Admiral Thrawn, Ray Stevenson as a possibly Jedi/Sith combo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, and more.
Speaking of Ray Stevenson…sadly…the talented actor who was in the Thor movies as well as HBO’s Rome recently passed away. So this could be his final onscreen appearance. Great actor with a big presence…he’ll be fun to watch him in Ahsoka.
The series was created by Dave Filoni and executive produced by Jon Favreau. Filoni is the closest thing to George Lucas, Junior. He was picked by Lucas personally to oversee the excellent Star Wars animated series The Clone Wars. Filoni stated that George would teach him about the ways of the Force and the rules of all things Star Wars. Filoni then created another great animated show called Star Wars: Rebels…and it is these two animated series where many of the characters of Ahsoka made their debut.
If you haven’t seen those shows…don’t worry…the creators and actors say that viewers can jump right in with Ahsoka and still enjoy themselves. But if you want to quickly catch up… highly recommend the final four episodes of Season 5 of The Clones Wars, the final four episodes of Season 7 of The Clones Wars, and the final four episodes of Season 4 of Star Wars: Rebels. Then you should be good to go!
In any event…this series looks very promising. The character of Ahsoka Tano was actually co-created by George Lucas himself along with Dave Filoni…so she has deep and strong Star Wars roots. Check out clips, trailers, and behind-the-scenes looks at Ahsoka below! May the Force be with you!
