Stunning Drone Video Shows Surfing The Manasquan Inlet
Absolutely stunning video emerging the past 48 hours of surfers inside the Manasquan Inlet catching waves. A truly epic set of lines popping up actually in the inlet as a result of a giant sand bar that formed naturally on the south side of the estuary.
Word began spreading of another sand bar forming in the Manasquan Inlet early last week. Pictures of people walking on the sand where there would normally be water began floating around social media. Some grabbed their skim boards and took the unique opportunity to ride near a wildly popular surfing spot on the Jersey shore.

This sort of thing is not new. Just last year a sand bar developed inside the Manasquan inlet. It’s a bad situation for pleasure boats trying to get out to the Atlantic ocean. However, it’s an even worse situation for working boats coming out of Point Pleasant who depend on the inlet to access the ocean for their livelihood. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Army Corp of Engineers have to clear out the sand bar last year?
Yes, that’s true, if my memory serves. In previous years the sand bar was a nuisance as well. But when the pre-Debbie ocean gathered itself, there was more than skim boarding available… and the insane video shows. While, clearly, the height isn’t crazy impressive… the location totally is blowing what’s left of my mind. Have a look.
Surfing The Manasquan Inlet: Video
The US Army Corp of Engineers will clear out this sand bar again, there’s no doubt about it. The access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Manasquan Inlet is too important to the local economy. But for a short time this past weekend, a rarity happened.
The video comes to us from East Waves Gear, shot by Larry Berko.
