Zoni’s Brooklyn Brick Coal Oven Pizza Opening In Seagirt
Zoni’s Brooklyn Coal Oven Pizzeria is coming to Seagirt. Robert Tarzia, aka “Rob Brooklyn” already has a pretty famous shop on Route 35 in Middletown that has a great reputation for its authentic margherita pies.
I should know, I’ve eaten his product, and it is one of the best margherita pies I’ve ever had. In fact, I voted for his pizza in the “People’s Choice” category at the Pizza Wars event in Toms River back in April. Rob wound up winning the award for, “Best Margherita Pizza” on the Jersey Shore.
In the coming days, (word on the street is August 1st) Rob is planning to open another location in the spot that is currently occupied by The Coal House on Route 35 Sea Girt.
This wasn’t exactly something Rob planned. According to an interview with the Asbury Park Press, Rob said, “I went to look at a coffee machine, and the guy sold me the place.”
While Rob was there, he realized that The Coal House had the same traditional oven he has at his place in Middletown.
The style of oven is a traditional baker’s oven that takes about 45 minutes to reach 1,000 degrees, with coals that need to be stoked once a day.
It’s the kind of oven that produces a freshly baked loaf of bread with a delightful crispy crust.
After his conversation with the owner, Rob said he just had to have this location.
The Seagirt restaurant is double the size of Rob’s Middletown location and includes outdoor seating.
If you want to say goodbye to The Coal House owner, Anthony Abdy, get there before this Sunday, July 28th because that is the last day he will remain open before Rob takes over.
I never met Anthony, but I have heard many positive comments about him from my fellow foodies. I send Anthony lots of love and success with whatever future plans he has for his life.
We Welcome Rob to the Wall- Seagirt area.
