Top 9 Most Exciting M&M Flavors You Need to Try

The holidays shouldn’t be the reason you celebrate the variety of flavors of M&M’s that are currently available. Rather, we should celebrate classic candies like the iconic M&M’s all the time.

As far as the holiday season goes, M&M’s come in handy. Especially when you’re baking holiday cookies and unique desserts for friends and family. There’s always one person who shows up at our holiday office party with cookies or brownies loaded with the standard chocolate M&M’s. However, that can be boring!

Rather than using the same old red-and-yellows, I have a field day creating all kinds of new confections using the variety of flavors released over the years. Imagine what I can make with the mint chocolate M&M’s with its milk chocolate and vibrant peppermint flavors. Or, what about white chocolate vanilla toasty M&M’s? These delights are dressed up in brown, white, and vanilla to celebrate the holiday season, as described on the official M&M’s website.

If you Google, “How many flavors of M&M’s are there?” The number that shows up most is 13, unless you do a lot of digging.

13 is probably the number of varieties available at your local retailers such as Walmart and your average grocery or drug store.

I found the website, Taquitos.net, and they display 61 different varieties , and not just in regular candy form. That’s insane!

They also showcase a bounty of brands of other favorite snacks! These have all kinds of wacky flavors you’ve probably never heard of unless you’re a complete snack and candy fanatic.

The website features favorite chip brands, Hostess Ding Dongs, Bagel Chips, breakfast snacks, and a boatload more.

One of the most enticing finds was Reese’s Elvis Peanut Butter & Banana Creme Collector Edition. Running a close second, Snyder’s of Hanover Cheeseburger Pretzel Pieces.

Let’s take a look at my favorite M&M’s choices, and the taste test profiles provided by the website. I may have to buy a case of these bad boys, I can always give them as gifts.

 

  • Mexican Jalapeño Peanut M&M's

    The company’s taste tester review: “I bit in to find that the initial taste was pretty similar to normal Peanut M&M’s, but as I continued to chew on the large pieces, the jalapeño kicked with an increasingly strong heat. I didn’t specifically notice the distinctive flavor of jalapeños, but I couldn’t help but notice the heat. The chocolate helped to temper the heat a bit, but cold milk worked even better. Certainly the hottest M&M’s we’ve tried.”

  • Caramel Cold Brew M&M's

    Next up, Caramel Cold Brew M&M’s.

    The Company’s taste tester review: “I bit in to find that the core of each piece was caramel, with all of its associated chewiness, quite un-M&M-like. The taste was pretty sweet as it combined the caramel and chocolate, plus there was a noticeable coffee flavor. I’m no coffee drinker, but I liked these and ended up eating the whole bag in one extended sitting.”

  • Crunchy Espresso M&M's

    Taste tester review, according to the website:” I crunched in to find a light crunch like the other ones, with a distinct coffee flavor, more coffee than chocolate. A cross-section revealed a dark interior and even darker crunchy center. When I checked the Ingredients, there was no sign of any coffee anywhere, but whatever non-coffee ingredients they used sure worked to simulate the taste!”

  • English Toffee Peanut M&M's

    Taste tester review: “I bit in to find a definite toffee taste to go along with the milk chocolate and peanut. I’m a big fan of Skor and Heath bars for their combination of milk chocolate and toffee, but as I ate more pieces, I found it harder to notice the toffee in the M&M’s, and the taste barely reminded me of those toffee bars. It seemed like the strength of the peanut made it harder to taste the toffee — this combination might have been more successful as a non-peanut M&M.”

     

  • M&M's Dark Chocolate Creepy Cocoa Crisp

    Taste tester review: ” I bit in to find that there was quite a lot of crunch, particularly as M&M’s go. A bitten-open cross section showed a very thin white layer inside the colored shell, surrounding a thick dark chocolate layer, which enclosed the even-darker-colored crunchy center. The chocolate was more intense and less creamy than your standard M&M’s, so my choice of cold whole milk worked very well to balance things out. Pretty good.”

  • M&M's Orange Vanilla Creme

    Taste tester review “I bit in to find a good sweet taste, a close match to the orange-and-cream flavor of a Creamsicle. The interior for both kinds was off-white, but it sure looked like bright white against the exterior of the orange pieces; the actual off-whiteness was clear in the case of the white pieces, whose exteriors were quite bright.”

     

  • M&M's Pumpkin Spice Latte

    Taste tester review: “I don’t drink a whole lot of lattes (as in, none) but I sure could taste a lot of pumpkin spice and chocolate, plus maybe even some coffee, though there didn’t seem to be any coffee listed in the ingredients. In fact, the ingredients didn’t list any pumpkin either! The mix of whatever it was tasted was quite sweet, but still pretty good. We shared these around with lots of snackers, and lots of people noted that the pumpkin flavor was quite strong. Most people liked them, and a few said they hated them, but even some of those who hated them still went back to the bag for more.”

  • M&M's Milk Chocolate Pecan Pie

    Taste tester review: “ When I bit in, the taste seemed to be mostly chocolate, and I couldn’t really notice any pecan. In the aftertaste, the taste seemed kind of like coffee. I checked the ingredients, and there was noting pecan-related in there at all (nor coffee beans, for that matter). Not bad, but if you’re craving a pecan pie, go get one, because these wouldn’t make much of a substitute.”

  • Birthday Cake M&M's

    Taste tester review: “We ripped open the bag to find that all the pieces were red, yellow or blue. Biting open a piece to reveal the profile, the interior looked like regular M&M’s. The taste was indeed like birthday cake — still some chocolate in there, but all sorts of other sweetness as well, like frosting and cake. Too sweet, though. I prefer the regular M&M’s.”
