Scott Weiland was a force to be reckoned with on recordings and stage. It’s hard to believe that Scott Weiland Is Gone 9 Years  –  Weiland’s 5 best songs is what we’re going to take a look at.  He made some incredible music with multiple bands.  Even his solo music was awesome!

Gone far too soon, Weiland passed away on December 3rd, 2015.   Throughout his career, he was known for his flamboyant and outrageous on-stage persona.  His voice sounded different on almost every song and he was one of the best frontmen of a band.  He knew how to get the crowd going!  His voice was smooth and raspy all at once and he came up with brilliant melodies and very interesting lyrics.

From the get-go, you can hear his talent on the debut release from Stone Temple Pilots, “Core”.  It was an amazing 1st album and really showcased Scott’s vocal abilities.  Plus, his ability to be entertaining and a little off the wall!

Later, with Velvet Revolver, he made some great music too.  Their albums were tight and focused and Weiland had a more mature sound.  His solo albums were an eclectic mix of sounds that worked really well too. Before we take a look at Weiland’s 5 best songs, check this audio out below. This is our own Terrie Carr in what’s believed to be the last recorded interview with Weiland before he passed.

  • CREEP - STONE TEMPLE PILOTS

This one is such a haunting an powerful track, really showcasing Weiland’s ability. The lyrics are pretty interesting and the band works together well by playing off each other.

  • LADY, YOUR ROOF BRINGS ME DOWN - SCOTT WEILAND

This piano startup gives you an odd feel and the song in general as an eerie yet melodic aspect to it.  It first appeared on the Great Expectations Soundtrack and then later on Weiland’s debut album 12 Bar Blues. The song features Sheryl Crow on accordion.  It’s really unique and different.

  • GRAVE DANCER - VELVET REVOLVER

An epic song that has such a cool vibe to it.  It gives me the feel of something the Stones would have tried in an experimental phase.  But it’s definitely different and really cool.

  • SEVEN CAGED TIGERS - STONE TEMPLE PILOTS

This one is one of my favorite STP songs.  It just hits home so well.  Weiland sings in a higher register.  And it works great.  So interesting that he was capable of so much!

  • MISSING CLEVELAND - SCOTT WEILAND

A rockin one from solo Scott!  It’s got a huge chorus.  Very infectious and while it’s poppy in sound, it has an underlying sadness to it.  Really cool tune.
