Jersey Burger Lovers 20+ Suggestions For The Best Burgers In The Garden State - Part 3

Actual human beings in our great state of New Jersey are my guides when it comes to finding out where the best of anything can be located. I actually put in the work to present an HONEST outcome. I never create a list that is NOT based on other people’s opinions. There are times I insert my own opinion into the mix, but one person’s opinion just isn’t enough. It’s all about the people and the food they love.

Burgers are another thing we consider comfort food.  Burgers, fries, shakes, and onion rings!  Some of my favorite things.

It’s time to find out where to go to find the best burgers in New Jersey according to the people. Thanks to all the fine folks who participated in my survey for pointing me in the direction of where to find these juicy hunks of meaty goodness. I appreciate all of you. Here’s part 3 of this 4 part series.

44 Chefs Share What They Think Makes The Perfect Burger

Plumsted Grill - 457 County Road #539, Cream Ridge, NJ 08514

Debra F. from the "What's On Your Plate" Facebook page loves the burgers at this place! Justin claims the Plumstead Burger and the Chicken Parm Sandwich were the highlights of his last meal letting us know they were cooked to perfection.

City Tavern - 1109 Elizabeth Ave, Elizabeth, NJ 07201

John F. mentioned the "City Burger" and how good it is. The wings here are also a winner.

Jersey Freeze - 120 Manalapan Ave, Freehold, NJ 07728

This probably should have shown up in Part 1 of the series, but I was bombarded with so many suggestions I missed it first time around. I often hear about their famous ice cream and not enough about the other items on the menu. So it's time to celebrate the burgers at Jersey Freeze.

Farm and Fisherman Tavern - 1442 Marlton Pike East, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034

John C, Avery S. and others have recommended heading to Cherry Hill for the outstanding burgers at this place. Avery swooned over the "The Astoria Burger" made with lamb, feta, cucumbers, onion and tahini ketchup.  That Colonial Burger looks mighty fine too. A beef burger topped with caramelized onions and Vermont Cheddar.

White Star Bar - 230 Brunswick Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302

The gang from a few different food pages head to Jersey City for really good burgers. Jake said it was his  go to place during Covid because their food, travels well. Grab a burger, an order of the fried pickles with chipotle ranch dip, and an ice cold beer and you're all set.

Stage Left Steak - 5 Livingston Ave, New Brunswick, NJ 08901

Suzanne C. had to remind me several times to include this place. Micah and Greg both suggested that the onion rings accompany this terrific burger.

Aqua Blu Kitchen & Cocktails - 3410 NJ-37, Toms River, NJ 08753

This is not a place I would have thought of to get a burger. I've been here a few times and have ordered Red Snapper, Veal Chops, and a pasta dish or two. Sharon, Athena, and a couple of other folks have had burgers here, and they all say they are fabulous.  In fact, Aqua Blu does burger nights. Who knew?

Portside Bar & Liquors - 369 NJ-36, Port Monmouth, NJ 07758

A liquor store with a bar and according to a few folks, really good burgers. This neighborhood dive bar and hidden gem is exactly the kind of place I would expect Guy Fieri to show up and rave about the food. Sometimes the most inconspicuous places have the best eats.

Arthur's Tavern - 700 Speedwell Ave, Morris Plains, NJ 07950

The first time I heard of Arthur's it was a discussion about how incredible the French Onion Soup is. Now I hear the burgers are divine and that it should be on my burger bucket list. Robert was the first person to give a tip of the hat to their Famous 10 oz. Burger.

The Speakeatery - : 705 Cookman Ave, Asbury Park, NJ 07712

This place offers some of the most creative sandwiches I've ever come across. I figured they had a burger or two on the menu. Their "Down -n- Out Burger" can be ordered with up to four fresh house seasoned burger patties, served on a roll with their special sauce. Pretty much anything you get here will be delicious.

The Lab Burger Co. - 235 Kinderkamack Rd, Oradell, NJ 07649

According to Glenn, they use quality ingredients like fresh cut fries and superior buns. The bun is nearly as important as the quality of the meat they use to make a burger. Bad buns go into garbage bins!

This place offers a variety of buns to house your burger, from ciabatta buns to brioche buns. Plus they have chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and a selection of soups and sandwiches if you're not into a big juicy burger.

Sinner’s Steakhouse - 20 Inlet Dr, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742

I know all about the Cowboy Steak and the Tomahawk Ribeye, now we talk about their burger. Jim S. Michelle V, and Harold D. have had a burger from here on more than one occasion. I always say if a steakhouse doesn't have a good burger then they should shut off the lights and close their doors.   Their burgers are a butcher's blend of prime beef, served with the toppings your choice.

One More Bar & Grill - 1375 Us Hwy No 206, 1375 US-206, Tabernacle, NJ

Jim from the South Jersey Food Scene gives this place his seal of approval. I've never been to Tabernacle before, so maybe it's time to see what it has to offer other than a good burger.

Sonny's Grille - 821 Belmar Plaza, Belmar, NJ 07719

Some people have described this place as a "Hole in the wall" which isn't necessarily a bad thing.  I do know that they're telling the truth about how good the burgers are. Plus, yummy milkshakes make the meal complete.

Eighty Twenty - 48 Westwood Ave., Westwood, NJ 07675

This place started out as a pop up and is now inside B & S Kitchen. They do food festivals, municipal gatherings and they cater as well. They call their burgers, "Smashers." It's a smashed beef patty with Vidalia onions, American Cheese, and their special Mandy sauce served on a Martin's potato roll.  They have veggie burgers, hot dogs in natural casings, fries, onion rings and more.

CheeseSteak Louie's - 22 Boulevard, Seaside Heights, NJ 08751

This guy makes some of the best cheesesteaks on the Jersey Shore. Now the masses tell me his burgers are just as good as the cheesesteaks. Alex and several others tell me the burgers are juicy, delicious, and full of love♥

Yard House - 400 NJ-38 Space #1570, Moorestown, NJ 08057

Todd says to get the half pound steak burger. I have heard the Happy Hour here is great. Awesome menu, and a really good beer selection. They also do a late night Happy Hour from 10pm to closing. They have a pork burger on the menu too. It's called the" Kurobuta Pork" and it's made with Snake River Farms Berkshire pork, spicy candied bacon, white American cheese, arugula, house-made blueberry ketchup. with house fries.

Spring Lake Tap House - 810 NJ-71, Spring Lake, NJ 07762

Sharon said, "This is my place to go for a good burger." Martina from Brielle, said, "How can you go wrong with the $7.00 basic burger?"  You can choose from Angus beef, turkey, or a veggie burger. I love a good local bar with good bar food. The gourmet pizza are a winner as well.

Dutch House Tavern - 24-07 Fair Lawn Ave, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410

Burgers & pub classics served with draft beer in a historic structure with a wraparound porch. A few people on the boards and pages have had a burger or 10 from this friendly neighborhood pub.

B-UNOS - 350 High St, Burlington, NJ 08016

Another place that is often referred to as a "Hole in the wall." Again, not a bad thing. It's all about the food and the service. From what I've heard from a few folks, the burgers are juicy and flavorful. The food is fresh, and the place is owned by Steve and Ree Capers, a husband and wife team who love what they do.

Nicholas Barrel & Roost - 160 NJ-35, Red Bank, NJ 07701

The "Nicholas Burger" is exactly what this Rocker ordered.  A Sirloin Short Rib Blend, Wood Grilled English Cheddar, Toasted Buttered Sesame Bun, Roost Sauce, Onion, House Pickle, & Seasoned Chips.
