I am a baker. The last thing I ever expected to do, was ask people where they buy their holiday pies. My friends and family have always asked me to bring one of my homemade desserts to every gathering, holiday or not.

I’ve baked some incredible pies throughout the years. My Dutch apple crumb, pecan, coconut custard, and blueberry pies seem to be the most requested.

For the first time in my adult life, I scoured the foodie pages to ask: “Where Do You Buy Your Holiday Pies?”
The people spoke, and spoke loud about the best places in Monmouth, Ocean, and beyond to buy the freshest, most delicious pies for their holiday tables.
I expected more than half of the respondents to say, “Delicious Orchards”, but that wasn’t the case. Delicious Orchards was mentioned frequently, just not as frequently as I expected.

Thanks to dozens and dozens of pie lovers for helping me compile a list of places that you can shop for a tasty dessert for your holiday table.

  • Emery's Farm - 346 Long Swamp Rd, New Egypt, NJ 08533

Based on the amount of people weighing in, and the 4.7 star Google review, this place is worth the road trip from anywhere in Jersey. If you desire more than just pies, this place has it. I heard the banana walnut crumb cake with chocolate drizzle is a showstopper. Jellies, Jams, and other homemade goodies can be found here. Robin Ann from the “What’s On Your Plate” FB page recommends the peach, cherry and blueberry pies.

  • Twin Pond Farm - 1459 US-9, Howell Township, NJ 07731

Another place known for more than just pies. According to their website: “There’s no place better to be than in our Country Market when we’re baking! We have an assortment of muffins, scones, cookies, and brownies baked in our kitchen every day. Did I forget to mention the apple cider donuts? We turn out dozens of tasty cider donuts daily in three scrumptious flavors: powdered, cinnamon sugar, and plain.”

Peggy in Howell loves this place! They also have sugar-free options.

  • Wemrock Orchards -1 00 Wemrock Rd, Freehold, NJ 07728

Freehold and the neighboring areas are loaded with goodness, and that includes Wemrock Orchards. They were suggested by quite a few people including Rob and Sadie from socials. Juanita’s review caught my eye, “Great place to get your pumpkins. Freshly made pies and apple cider donuts! They also have hot sauces in different flavors ,jams ,pretzels and a winery! It’s a must see don’t wait go today!”

  • Lucille's Country Cooking - 496 Main St, Barnegat Township, NJ 08005

I was shocked to see a Luncheonette pop up in the suggestions. However, Lucille’s is more than just breakfast and lunch! Lucille’s is known in “The Pines” for their homemade pies. Regular patrons NEVER skip out before ordering a slice of one of Lucille’s fresh baked pies. You can order them too. The late Anthony Bourdain made this part of his food trail, and that’s proof enough for me that this place is worth a visit. Here’s to the late Lucille Bates for leaving behind an amazing legacy, and the recipe for her pies.

  • Battleview Orchards - 91 Wemrock Rd, Freehold, NJ 07728

King of the Wednesday Warriors, Tom Fornicola posted a photo the other day that had me craving Dutch apple pie. He said: Just something about that Battleview Dutch Apple 🍎that hits different!!” I always trust Tom, he’s never wrong.

  • 502 Baking Company - 502 Brick Blvd, Brick Township, NJ 08723

Another Fornicola favorite, as well a dozen other folks, I never heard of this place until the expert foodies spoke up. Thanks for the heads up! Key lime pie isn’t exactly a Thanksgiving staple, but this place will convince you otherwise. Their chicken pot pies are a favorite too. Definitely worth checking out.

  • Sunburst Pie Company - 150 Main St, Manasquan, NJ 08736

Getting here early to grab a fresh baked pie is key, unless you pre-order your desserts. The banana cream pie has been described as, “luxurious”, and is a huge seller. The chocolate cream pie was mentioned a half a dozen times as well. It’s worth the stop. Oh, and the carrot cake is bigger than my head.

  • David Burke's Dixie Lee Bakery - 303 Main St, Keansburg, NJ 07734

Folks in the “Burg” love this old school bakery. It was recently purchased by Chef, David Burke.  David is actually a trained pastry chef who kept some of the crew who worked at Dixie Lee’s before he bought the place. Jenn Dah threatened me if I did not include her hometown bakery. They are famous for their black and white cookies and jelly donuts. A little birdie told me they make a pumpkin mousse pie that will knock your taste buds into another dimension.

  • Delicious Orchards - 320 NJ-34, Colts Neck, NJ 07722

This place has been around forever! Enjoy freshly baked breads, pies, cakes, cookies and donuts.  The apple cider donuts are a big favorite! The butcher there is excellent as well.

  • Cravings Desserts - 310 Main St, Allenhurst, NJ 07711

Another place that’s new to me. It’s been around since 1988 which means I need to get out of the house more. Ann Marie on the Wednesday Warrior’s page said this place is a must. Other’s have given these folks excellent reviews as well.  They have a great reputation for special order cakes and pies. Maybe this should be your next stop for cakes, tortes, pies, and brownies.

  • Mueller's Bakery - 80 Bridge Ave, Bay Head, NJ 08742

This place is a MUST mention. WRAT listeners voted them the best bakery on the Jersey Shore, and earned them a WRAT Shore Award. This place is dangerous for sweets lovers. Too many delicious pies, cakes, and pastries to choose from. The crumb cake has been around for well over 100 years.  If you want a killer apple strudel, then you’re in the right place.  Go to Muellers at some point in your life!

  • E. Holland Sundries - 126 Main St, Bradley Beach, NJ 07720

Thanks to Mike and Lee Ann for mentioning this place. They’re a small bakery operating in various farmers and craft markets at the Jersey Shore. Open Thursday – Sunday at 126 Main Street in Bradley Beach! From fresh baked pretzels, to fresh baked pies, this is the locals go to, and it may become yours too.  Tom’s review read “Incredible pretzels, delicious galettes (sweet AND savory), mouth watering croissants, amazing cookies and bars, and delicious hand fruit pies — there is nothing that Shannon and Deanna make at E. Holland Sundries that isn’t totally delicious!

  • Smith's Farm Market - 2810 Allaire Rd, Wall Township, NJ 07719

I stopped here recently and a lovely woman who I think may have been the owner, greeted me as I purchased fresh lettuce, cabbage, and tomatoes. Now I know that their fresh baked pies are an option when I don’t feel like baking. Thanks to Debbie in Wall for telling me about the pies here.

  • A & M Farm And Garden Center - 1203 US-130, Robbinsville Twp, NJ 08691

A big suggestion from Brooklyn on the WOYP page. Looks really good too! Caramel apple walnut pies and several other delicious combos looking to be served at your holiday table.

    Cherry pie

  • Wegmans - 1104 NJ-35, Ocean Township, NJ 07712

Believe it or not, numerous folks mentioned Wegmans. How about that!

  • Perkins - 113 S Main St, Forked River, NJ 08731

Perkins!  I used to go to Perkins by the Asbury Circle and the one that used be on Route 37 in Toms River, and they did have some tasty pies. The fresh baked pies were prominently displayed in the glass case at the register. I didn’t know they still had restaurants open in NJ until Tracy and Suzanne, fans of the “What’s On Your Plate” page on Facebook mentioned them as a place to get pies for the holidays. They have restaurants still standing in Forked River, Hazlet, and East Brunswick.
