James Hetfield is expanding his IMDb profile with a new film role in what is being described as a “dark western.”

Per Deadline, the project is called The Thicket, and it’s an adaption of a novel of the same name by Joe R. Lansdale. The film is set for release on Tubi and stars Peter Dinklage, who is also producing the film. Also cast in the film are Juliette Lewis, Esmé Creed-Miles, Levon Hawke, Leslie Grace and Gbenga Akinnagbe.

Hetfield made his acting debut in the Netflix Ted Bundy biopic that premiered in 2019. He played Officer Bob Hayward, the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy. The film was directed by Joe Berlinger who also directed and produced the 2004 documentary Metallica: Some Kind of Monster.

Up until Extremely Wicked, Hetfield’s acting credits consisted primarily of one-off voice roles for animated shows. He’s appeared on Dave The Barbarian, Metalocalypse, American Dad! and The Simpsons. Hetfield voiced Wolfgang in the Netflix animated series Skylanders Academy for five episodes.
