James Hetfield performed an acoustic cover of the Bob Seger classic “Turn the Page” during Joe Walsh’s VetsAid livestream event.

Embedded below, Hetfield’s cover was a stripped-down version of the Seger tune, which Metallica recorded for their 1998 covers album Garage Inc. The band released “Turn the Page” as the lead single from the album, and it went to number one on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Songs chart.

The VetsAid event took place on December 12 and helped raise funds for a number of veterans services groups in the United States. A variety of artists and celebrities appeared during the event including Eddie Vedder,  Jon Bon Jovi, Drew Carey, Alice Cooper, Brandon Flowers, Vince Gill, Darryl Hall, Ben Harper, Jason Isbell, Jewel, Richard Marx, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson and the Boys, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Billy Bob Thornton, Steven Van Zandt, and many more.
