RAT Rock News

With the coronavirus spreading, we’ve all been advised to regularly wash our hands. To adequately clean your hands, it is recommended to wash them for a total of 20 seconds, or the amount of time it takes to sing “Happy Birthday” twice.

But what happens when you’re tired of singing “Happy Birthday”? Fortunately, Twitter is here to help.

Freelance journalist Jen Monnier shared the following tweet yesterday, and it has since gone viral. Monnier wrote, “You’re supposed to wash your hands for 20 sec, which is the time it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice. But I’m tired of singing Happy Birthday and you probably are too, so I’ve done the very important public service of compiling other songs with roughly 20 sec choruses to sing.”

Monnier then listed the following songs: Beyonce’s “Love on Top”; Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide”; Prince’s “Raspberry Beret”; Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”; Toto’s “Africa”; and Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts.”

Now, there’s a little something there for most musical tastes. However, if you’re looking for a playlist of just rock choruses to help you wash your hands better, the five songs listed below have choruses of at least 20 seconds or a little more, which when it comes to washing your hands to prevent the spread of germs, a few more seconds couldn’t hurt.
