No good deed seems to go unpunished between Oasis‘ Gallagher brothers.
Singer Liam Gallagher has slammed his brother Noel‘s performance at Saturday’s (September 9) benefit show re-opening the Manchester Arena after a terrorist attack killed 22 people during an Ariana Grande concert in May.
Liam had previously slammed Noel for missing the subsequent One Love Manchester benefit concert during June, and after Saturday’s show he tweeted, “NG broke down in tears cmon you seriously ain’t buying that he doesn’t give a f***..Don’t buy into his PR stunt he doesn’t give a f*** if the same thing had have gone of in Edinburgh he’d been up there like a shot ahem.”
Noel’s performance at the show was indeed emotional, with the singer-guitarist shedding tears as he and his band High Flying Birds played Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” which has become an anthem of healing in Manchester, telling the crowd that, “every time you sing, we win, so keep on singing.”
Noel missed the One Love Manchester show due to what he said were family commitments. Proceeds from Saturday’s show went to the Manchester Memorial Fund, which is planning to build a permanent memorial to the attack victims.
Liam — who’s releasing his first solo album As You Were on October 6 — tells us that he doesn’t see any end in sight to the animosity between the two brothers:
“It’s beyond me and Noel now, innit? It’s about something else. He’s in another world with his friends. I don’t know what it is…He’s still in a bubble. He’s still got the Oasis machine. He’s got Oasis management around him, so he’s not apt to change much…He’s still living in the Oasis bubble. God forbid it bursts one day, ’cause I think…he’ll have a nervous breakdown.”
