PNC Bank Arts Center Concert Schedule 2024.

Lots of great shows coming to the PNC Bank Arts Center this 2024 concert season. I remember when this place used to be called The Garden State Arts Center.

Jane Foderago says The Garden State Arts Center opened on June 12, 1968, with a program featuring pianist Van Cliburn, conductor Eugene Ormandy, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. The Arts Center was operated in conjunction with the New Jersey Highway Authority, which also ran the Parkway.

I interviewed Point Pleasant’s own Dean DeLeo, the lead guitarist for Stone Temple Pilots and he was sharing some of his personal history attending shows at the Garden State Arts Center with his family.

One of his first recollections was seeing the Carpenters when he was 10 years old back in the summer of 72. The Carpenters were a huge act in the 70’s.

My husband also shared memories of his first show as a kid at the Garden State Arts Center. His first show was back in 1970 seeing Sammy Davis Jr. who did a week-long residency at the time.

Back in those days, people would dress up to go to a concert event at the Arts Center. Men in jackets and ties, women in dresses, skirts, or pantsuits.

Nowadays, we just throw on whatever’s comfortable. If you’re going to be outdoors for a show, it’s best to be comfortable.

I lost count of how many shows I’ve seen at the Arts Center over the last 28 years. Its’ got to be hundreds!

The WRAT van is almost always on-site for rock shows.

This year I count at least 20 shows I’d like to attend. I will be showing up for at least 10 of those shows including WRATFEST 2024: Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper: Freaks On Parade Tour with special guests Ministry & Filter on September 7th. • SATURDAY JUNE 1, 2024 - THE BEACH BOYS/MIKE LOVE - 7pm

  Are you picking up Good Vibrations from this announcement? PNC is the first of SEVEN appearances this legendary group will be making in the Garden State this year. But, they are not coming alone. Fresh Off his Traffic Jam Tour, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame musician and songwriter, Dave Mason will be joining Brian, Mike, Al, and Bruce on stage!

• SATURDAY JUNE 15, 2024 - JOHN FOGERTY : THE CELEBRATION TOUR - 6:30PM

  Founding member of Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Fogerty will be hitting the stage in Holmdel in mid-June. This is part of his Celebration Tour. But, to make things even better, he will not be coming alone. Fogerty will also be joined by Hearty Har and the bad man himself, George Thorogood!

• SUNDAY JUNE 16, 2024 - JUNETEENTH NJ FESTIVAL - 12:00 NOON

  Celebrating excellence, this festival is jam-packed with artists and DJs. This will also have a diverse vendor village, featuring multiple black-owned businesses in the area. This event promises to keep those in attendance dancing from start to finish! It starts right at noon.

• THURSDAY JUNE 20, 2024 - HARDY: QUIT!! TOUR - 6:45PM

  Hardy, a country-rocker will be stopping at PNC as part of his QUIT!! tour. Coming off last year’s Mockingbird and THE CROW album, this show will likely feature some of the hits from it, including “Jack”, “Truck Bed” and “Sold Out”. He will be joined by Kip Moore, Travis Denning, and Ella Langley.

• SATURDAY JUNE 29, 2024 - MAROON 5 - 7:30PM

  A Las Vegas residency and a handful of festival headlining gigs wasn’t enough for Maroon 5 this year.

  From June 21 through July 3 — sandwiched in between a residency and festival dates — Adam Levine and company are striking out on a mini seven-concert tour with special guest Maren Morris.

• SUNDAY JUNE 30, 2024 - WILLIE NELSON, BOB DYLAN, ROBERT PLANT & ALISON KRAUSS/ Outlaw Music Festival - 5:00PM

  They are on the road again! Talk about a star-studded lineup! Willie Nelson, a Godfather of Outlaw Country. Bob Dylan, a vocal revolutionary. Led Zepplin lead singer and rock icon, Robert Plant, and the blue-grass stylings of Alison Krauss! This starts at 5:00 pm.

• WEDNESDAY JULY 3 2024 - ALANIS MORISSETTE - THE TRIPLE MOON TOUR - 7:00PM

  With: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, and Morgan Wade

  Congratulations to the Dave Matthews Band on being selected as a class of 2024 inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

• FRIDAY JULY 12, 2024 - DIRTY HEADS & SLIGHTLY STOOPID - 6:00PM

  With: Common Kings & Elovaters

  Nothing stupid about it! This self-described fusion of folk, rock, reggae, and blues with hip-hop, funk, metal, and punk, is making its way to Jersey, and for a good cause! Slightly Stoopid and Dirty Heads are partnered with Maui Food Bank. $1 from every ticket sold is helping the hungry on Maui.

  Third Eye Blind’s musical style has been described as pop rock, alternative rock, post-grunge, pop punk, and power pop. Singer, Stephen Jenkins noted that he was influenced by The Clash, Jane’s Addiction, and Camper Van Beethoven.

  Did you know: Elvis Costello and Daryl Hall collaborated back in 1984 on the former’s single “The Only Flame in Town,” which appears on Costello’s ninth studio album, Goodbye Cruel World. That LP was recorded with Costello’s early band the Attractions.

  Lzzy Hale’s powerful vocals dominate this hard rockin’ outfit. Brother Arejay Hale on drums, Joe Hottinger on guitar, and Pennsylvania native, Josh Smith lays down the groove on bass.

• SATURDAY JULY 27, 2024 - SAMMY HAGAR: THE BEST OF ALL WORLDS TOUR - 7:00PM

  With special guests: LOVERBOY

  Red Rocker Sammy Hagar has had a killer career as a solo artist, as the frontman of Van Halen, and as the leader of the band The Circle with has Van Halen brother, Michael Anthony.  On this tour, Sammy will go deep into the Van Halen catalogue as well as his solo career with help from guitar virtuoso, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony on bass, and Jason Bonham behind the drum kit.

  Fred Durst & the boys are in on the joke. • SUNDAY AUGUST 4, 2024 - IMAGINE DRAGONS - LOOM WORLD TOUR

  The Las Vegas rockers will perform at the PNC Banks Art’s Center, which is part of the group’s 29-date tour in support of its new album “Loom.” Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday 4/26/24, with pre-sales starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday 4/23/24.

   

• MONDAY AUGUST 5, 2024 - FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH

  With: Marilyn Manson & Slaughter To Prevail

  Show at 6:30pm

  Frontman Ivan Moody sets the tone with his hard-hitting deep vocals and personal lyrics that connect with fans.  5FDP’s debut album The Way of the Fist was released in 2007, which achieved rapid success and sold over 500,000 copies in the United States.

  The band continues to set the concert stage on fire with their blistering set of music.
