Marilyn Manson Guitarist Daisy Berkowitz Dead at 49
Guitarist Scott Putesky, better known as Marilyn Manson’s Daisy Berkowitz, has passed away just over four years after revealing he’d been diagnosed with stage four colon cancer.
Putesky, who was 49, announced the news of his cancer during September of 2013, though an exact date or location of his death has not yet been revealed. He was an original member of Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids, playing with Manson through May of 1996 when he left during the making of the Antichrist Superstar album. He subsequently performed as SMP and launched the projects Three Ton Gate, the Linda Blairs, Jack Off Jill and Kill Miss Pretty. He released Millenium Effluvium as Daisy Berkowitz in 2014, while his finale recording was the Daisy Kids’ Mr. Conrad Samsung in 2015.
Putesky did successfully sue Manson for unpaid royalties from Antichrist Superstar, receiving the rights to 21 unreleased Spooky KIds recordings.
Mason released the following statement via Instagram: “Scott Putesky and I made great music together. We had our differences over the years, but I will always remember the good times more. Everyone should listen to ‘Man That You Fear’ in his honor. That was our favorite.”
