Taylor Momsen Thanks AC/DC with a Cake (& Toy Cars!)
Taylor Momsen gave AC/DC a fun cake as a thank-you for having The Pretty Reckless out on the road with them.
The singer shared photos with AC/DC in a social media post where she wrote, “When AC/DC let you grace their stage every night for a whole summer, how do you thank them? A life-sized, made to spec, cake of Angus [Young]’s famous SG! Plus, some special gifts for Brian to go along.” (Those special gifts for Brian Johnson were a set of Hot Wheels toy cars, since Johnson is a car enthusiast.)
Momsen continued, “I can’t express our appreciation for the experience they’ve given us, they ARE rock and roll, if you haven’t seen it, figure out a way, AC/DC is a true FORCE OF NATURE. Thank you Angus, Brian, Stevie, Matt and Chris, we’re having the best times of our lives with you!!!! See you Saturday in Germany!”
The Pretty Reckless was announced as AC/DC’s European tour opener back in March. At that time, Momsen shared via Instagram, “It’s f—ing AC/DC…[exploding head/mindblown emoji]. See you on the road!”
Up until this tour, The Pretty Reckless have been relatively quiet for a few years now. Their last studio album, Death by Rock and Roll, was released in February 2021. The last single they released was “Only Love Can Save Me Now” (ft. Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron) in June 2021. The band didn’t have a super-packed touring schedule in 2023. Most of their performances were at festivals. Among them were the Innings Festival, Sonic Temple and WDHA’s Rock the Rock Fest.
AC/DC announced in February their European tour dates. This marks the band’s first tour since 2016.
In a brief statement from the band, they confirmed the lineup for the tour. Brian Johnson will be on vocals and joined by Angus and Stevie Young on lead and rhythm guitar, respectively. Matt Laug, who played with the band at Power Trip in October 2023, will be on drums.
As for bass, AC/DC has recruited Chris Chaney “to carry the torch for Cliff [Williams].” Williams retired shortly after the 2016 tour, but he appeared on AC/DC’s 2020 album Power Up. Williams also performed at Power Trip with the band. Chaney, of course, has an impressive resume that includes playing in Alanis Morissette’s touring band and being a member of Jane’s Addiction from 2002-2004 and 2011-2022.
