Bring Me the Horizon Surprise Release New Album, ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’
A Bring Me the Horizon surprise is always a good thing, and we have just that, as the British rockers have released a new album, POST HUMAN: NeX GEn, out of the blue. In fact, the band only alerted fans that they were dropping it a few hours before its release. The album is the group’s first full-length in five years.
Bring Me the Horizon Surprise Album is Here
Even thought the fact the album is out is a surprise, fans have known it’s coming for a while. The release was slated to drop back in September but was postponed because of “unforeseen circumstances.”
Fans will recognize a bunch of songs off POST HUMAN: NeX GEn, as Bring Me the Horizon has been releasing singles one-by-one over the years. A few of the previously released singles on the set include “DiE4u,” “sTraNgeRs,” “LosT,” “AmEN!,” “DArkSide” and “Kool-Aid.”
POST HUMAN: NeX GEn marks Bring Me the Horizon’s first full-length album since 2019’s amo. In between releases, the band released a nine-song EP called Post Human: Survival Horror in 2020.
“NeX GEn is the latest chapter in the series to be revealed and sees the band expanding both musically and conceptually,” a press release for the album states. “Following on from 2020’s POST HUMAN: Survival Horror – which featured collaborations with YUNGBLUD, Nova Twins, BABYMETAL and Evanescence’s Amy Lee, and includes the huge hit singles ‘Teardrops’ and ‘Obey.’ Sonically the album hits heavy, whilst frontman Oli’s vocals are his most melodic to date… Not that Bring Me The Horizon are looking backward. As ever, NeX GEn is the work of a band unafraid to challenge both themselves and the musical world in which they have become leaders.”
Of the Bring Me the Horizon surprise release, Oli Sykes says, “It’s a real concept album, with a full narrative that connects to the first record, but the concept is hidden and buried. Some people aren’t going to be interested, but for some people it could be like a self-help book. There’s a lot of things in there, some of it’s quite clear, but a lot of it cryptic and hidden. People are gonna have to work it out.”
In other news, it’s less of a Bring Me the Horizon surprise, but the band will hit the road this summer to promote the new tunes on a European festival run. Currently, they have dates booked from early June through mid August. So, it’s shaping up to be a busy year for the group.
