Green Day to Play ‘Dookie,’ ‘American Idiot’ in Full on Upcoming Tour
Green Day is going big on their upcoming summer stadium tour and will perform Dookie and American Idiot in their entirety at every stop.
Bassist Mike Dirnt confirmed this to Rolling Stone saying, in part, “We’ve never done anything like this before. And there’s a really good chance we’ll never do it again.”
This decision comes as 2024 marks milestone anniversaries for both Green Day albums. Dookie turns 30 on February 1, while American Idiot turns 20 on September 21.
Dirnt says that playing both albums live will take about 90 minutes of their set time. The rest of their set will be between 35-45 minutes. Fans will likely hear other major hits and other favorites during that time. That time will undoubtedly feature music from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band’s new album, Saviors, which comes out this Friday (Jan. 19). The album is available for digital pre-save and physical pre-order at select retailers here. Exclusive vinyl pressings, formats and merch bundles are available for pre-order at Store.GreenDay.com.
Green Day announced this tour back in Nov. 2023. The tour kicks off on July 29 in Washington, D.C. at Nationals Park and wraps on September 28 in San Diego at Petco Park. Joining the band on the tour as supporting acts are Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas.
