The event is at Ocean County Park in Lakewood on 9/25. Activities begin at 9am, the walk opening ceremonies begin at 10am and it wraps up at about 1pm.
I’m heading up this walking team because a good friend of mine made an awful mistake a while ago. John was a police officer. I knew John for so long. Everyone loved the guy and we’re all still so bummed about his passing. John played volleyball with us on 5th ave in Belmar, he was even on the WRAT Volleyball Team that plays at the Headliner… We had great conversations about rock music and public policy and shared a love of sand and sun.
I’m walking because people in his line of work need to know that there’s help, I’m walking for the US military veterans who are struggling now. I’m walking so every day people can realize there’s help if you need it. I’m walking because life needs good people like you to take a stand.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, help is available 24/7. Contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK, or text ‘Talk’ to 741741.
