VIDEO: AC/DC’s Brian Johnson Talks about his ‘Rock and Roll Firsts’
AC/DC’s Brian Johnson is rock royalty, but his path to legend status had to start somewhere as evident in this “Rock & Roll Firsts” video from AXS TV.
In the clip below, Johnson talks about important “firsts” in his life, from his first concert to the first time he heard himself on the radio. The funniest answer came from being asked what was the first album he bought.
“The first album I bought, well, I actually stole it, because my girlfriend at the time was in Newcastle, and she worked in the record store,” said Johnson. “And she said, ‘You know what? There’s an album over there that nobody is buying. It’s awful. If you nick over and stick it up your [shirt]…’and I did. It was Bob Dylan’s [‘The] Freewheelin’ [Bob Dylan’], and I walked out of that shop with the biggest nipples in Newcastle. That’s what vinyl did to you.”
AC/DC is still pretty dormant as of right now despite seeing some heavy activity in the rumor mill for nearly the past year and a half regarding dropping a new album and touring with Johnson again.
The last bit of news that made the rounds was from January when Eddie McGuire from Australia’s Triple M Hot Breakfast said, “My mail is, there will be a new album released by AC/DC in February/March this year, but also that AC/DC will be touring Australia [in] October/November 2020. And after a lot of work and a lot of technical research, they have been able to get a hearing aid for Brian Johnson, who will be out front.”
McGuire added, “And even Phil Rudd might be back in the group either playing percussion or drums with Angus [Young] so that they’ve got three of — well, not the originals, but three of the old-timers, if you like, back there. They’ve had a few changes over the journey, but Angus out front, Brian Johnson lead singing, and maybe Phil Rudd, after his issues that he’s had in recent times.”
And then coronavirus happened, and well…you know the rest.
