Lars Ulrich: Support for James Hetfield Re-Entering Rehab Has Been ‘Very Heartwarming’
Metallica has said very little since announcing James Hetfield would be re-entering rehab, but Lars Ulrich offered a brief follow-up in a new interview.
Speaking with USA Today, Ulrich said when asked about Hetfield seeking treatment, “He’s doing what he needs to; he’s in the process of healing himself. I feel bad for everybody down in Australia and New Zealand [for having to postpone our tour], but we’re excited to get back to full force and come back stronger and healthier than ever.”
He continued, “I think the biggest surprise is just how positive the feedback has been from our fans and friends and peers alike. It’s very heartwarming, and it’s just blown our minds how much love and appreciation and support we’ve gotten in the last week since we had to postpone this. It’s an incredible thing.”
Despite postponing their Australia/New Zealand tour, Metallica made a big announcement last week about their touring plans in 2020 in which they’ll headline five festivals in the United States – Epicenter, Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple, Louder Than Life and Aftershock – and perform two different sets at each festival.
