Latest on the GN’R/T.Rex Tribute Album Rumor
For fans hoping the rumor about Guns N’ Roses appearing on a new all-star T.Rex tribute album was true, unfortunately, there’s some bad news.
The rumor came from Mitch Lafon, host of Rock Talk with Mitch Lafon, and recently he shared a message he received from Hal Willner, the producer of the aforementioned T.Rex tribute album, and Willner made it perfectly clear that GN’R were not involved with the album.
The statement reads: “They are NOT on the record. In fact, ‘Children of the Revolution’ is done by Kesha with a live orchestra that features Wayne Kramer and LA’s Jack Shit band that has members of Elvis C[ostello’s] and Jackson B[rowne’s] bands. There is a rumor that Axl Rose recorded that song for a different Bolan project without GN’R but again, it is not ours.” (Full statement is available below.)
Regardless, the tribute album’s lineup is incredible, even without out GN’R. Among those confirmed are U2, Elton John, Foo Fighters, Joan Jett, Todd Rundgren, Perry Farrell and Nick Cave.
