Whitesnake’s New LP Sets Up For Busy Next Few Years
Whitenake may reveal its “Flesh & Blood’ on the group’s next album — its first set of new material in seven years.
The title was revealed in a press release announcing Whitesnake’s 2018 tour dates with Foreigner and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience, which said that the group is “currently in the studio recording their tentatively titled new studio album Flesh & Blood.” The set will be Whitesnake’s 13th overall and the follow-up to 2015’s The Purple Album, which featured remakes of songs from frontman David Coverdale‘s time in Deep Purple.
No release date has been announced, but Coverdale tells us that it will be the first salvo in a busy next few years for Whitesnake:
“The next three to five years is spoken for for some really exciting projects. But, yes, we’re doing a new studio album I’m very excited about. It’s the first opportunity with both (guitarists) Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, and I have actually had to sit down and write together ’cause when Joel joined the band…the first project he did when Reb became the bandleader was what I was considering to be my last hurrah, which was ‘The Purple Album.'”
Whitesnake released a 30th anniversary deluxe edition of its self-titled 1987 set earlier this year. The group’s summer tour begins June 15 in Bangor, Maine.
