Corey Taylor on Why He Went After The Political Right and Left in His New Book ‘America 51’
In addition to supporting Stone Sour‘s new album Hydrograd, Corey Taylor is thumping the drum for his latest book, America 51: A Probe into the Realities That are Hiding Inside ‘The Greatest Country in the World.’
The collection of pointed essays, written in Taylor’s inimitable, in-your-face style, but while his own political positions are clear he also takes his side of the fence to task:
“When Trump won…it refocused me in a way and made me see that there are bigger issues in America…It’s essentially me standing in the middle and trying to get people to come to the middle and talk instead of standing on the outside extreme screaming at each other…Both sides have issues. Both sides are so conflicted they’re right that they can’t see how f***ing wrong they are. It’s not fair to the people who are actually trying to do something good for the country, for better or for worse…So it’s me trying to point out the issues on both sides. It’s also me trying to find common ground for everyone to talk about so maybe we can start to get our walking papers together and walk towards the light.”
Taylor and Stone Sour are in the midst of an extensive tour to promote Hydrograd, including a spot on Slipknot‘s Knotfest festivals in Mexico and California.
