WATCH: Festival Crowd Rocks Sing-A-Long To Motörhead’s “Heroes” Cover
LONDON - OCTOBER 4: Lemmy Kilminster of Mototrhead performs an Acoustic Set on stage at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour, the music magazine's inaugural awards, at Cafe de Paris on October 4, 2005 in London, England. Categories include Album Of The Year, Band Of The Year, Best Reissue, Classic Rock Collection and Classic Rock Event Of The Year.
Forget David Hasselhoff; Germans love Lemmy Kilmister!
Wacken Open Air, the long-running metal festival emanating from Wacken, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, took place this past weekend, and Motörhead were often a festival mainstay throughout its history. Since Lemmy’s passing, the festival has found ways to pay tribute to the metal icon, and this year was no exception.
Since Motörhead had just released their cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” Wacken played the cover’s video on the festival’s big screens and queued up the song’s lyrics. What ensued was a mass sing-a-long that is nothing short of moving.
