Bennington News Round-Up: Cause of Death Confirmed, Funeral Souvenirs Hit eBay
It’s not exactly a surprise, but the Los Angeles Coroner’s Department has confirmed suicide by hanging as the official cause of death for Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington.
The 41-year-old Bennington’s body was found on the bedroom door at his home in Palos Veerdes Estates on July 20; He used a belt to commit the act, according to the report. A “partially empty bottle of alcohol” was also found in the room but the coroner determined that it was not a contributing factor to Bennington’s death. The time of death was listed as 9:08 a.m.
A private funeral was held for Bennington last Saturday (July 25), and souvenirs from the service — including laminates, programs, wristbands and lapel pins — surfaced on eBay, with asking prices of more than $50,000 for packages, before being removed.
More than 300 Linkin Park-sanctioned tributes to Bennington are slated to take place worldwide this weekend, and the group has asked for donations to be made in his memory to MusicForRelief.org.
