Chester Bennington Laid To Rest, Friends Share More Tributes
Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington was laid to rest over the weekend, in a quiet funeral attended by only family and close friends.
TMZ and other outlets report that the service took place on July 29 at the South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes, Calif. Of Mice & Men frontman Austin Carlile was among those who attended and posted an Instagram message with a photo of the memorial program and laminate and writing that, “The service was beautiful today. Thank you Linkin Park, thank you Chester for everything.”
Bennington’s Dead By Sunrise bandmates, who are also in the group Julien-K, also posted a message that “Julien-K & Dead By Sunrise stand with @linkinpark & the Bennington family as we go to honor our sweetest and dearest friend. Chester, we love you so much. Our thoughts, love and prayers sto (widow) Talinda, the kids, and the LP family. We love you…”
Bennington’s family reportedly decided against putting his body in a plot next to Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell at the Hollywood Forever cemetery; The two were close friends, and Bennington performed at Cornell’s funeral in May; He committed suicide on July 20, which would have been Cornell’s 53rd birthday.
The weekend was also marked by addition tributes to Bennington by his widow Talinda as well as his ex-wife Samantha Marie Olit and Linkin Park bassist Dave Farrell, while the group’s Mike Shinoda posted a message to fans.
