According to YouGov.com, French fries are the most popular food in America. Americans LOVE their French Fries!
New Jerseyans LOVE French fries and of course the Garden state’s beloved Pork Roll/Taylor Ham. Some Jersey folks love fries combined with pork roll/Taylor Ham.
Data collected from extensive surveys and snap polls, resulted in 85% of American participants naming French fries as their favorite food. Followed by hamburgers, mashed potatoes, grilled cheese, steak with a baked potato, cheeseburgers, fried chicken, and hash browns all following closely behind.
French fries may be the one of America’s most perfect foods. You can dress them up a million different ways. They can be accompanied by an abundance of different dipping sauces and condiments.
Jersey’s signature, “Disco Fries” are a staple at diners across the state. They are Canada’s version of poutine.
I remember when I first moved here, I went to a diner with some co-workers and friends after a night out at one of the local bars, and someone ordered “Disco Fries.” I said, “What the heck are disco fries.”
Everyone at the table looked at me like I came from another planet. I wanted to slide under the table.
This iconic New Jersey favorite was explained to me as, ” A plate full of French fries, covered in brown gravy, and topped with a generous helping of melted mozzarella.
That sounded amazing! Back home in New York, I always ordered my diner fries with a side of brown gravy. Adding melted mozzarella to the equation sent it over the top after trying them for the first time.
