Beach Haven, New Jersey Arcade Gets Awesome Improvements
You know what is an iconic institution of The Jersey Shore?
Something that goes back generations, kids and adults alike laughing and gaming together since as far as you can remember?
The Arcade.
Everything about the Jersey Shore is intertwined with the idea of a visit to a classic arcade. And I mean classic. The claw machine, the skeeball, the rake games, the video games… The glow and the sounds… No beach stay is complete without it!
Throw in a little mini-golf or a small, but fun, amusement park ride and you’ve got yourself a classic Jersey Shore afternoon.
When I heard that Fantasy Island in Beach Haven, on Long Beach Island, went up for sale a few years ago, I had that same old dark feeling… That the new owners would turn it into condos or – worse – a strip mall and it would continue the slow extinction of the classic arcade genre.
But, as it turns out… I was totally wrong. The new owners of Fantasy Island had much different plans and the final outcome is a brighter, safer, more fun atmosphere. So I called up and asked if Brian, the new CEO, had time to talk about the improvements. They upgraded everything: lighting, carpet, even the air conditioning system so the air is healthier. So this institution of The Jersey Shore sounds like they’ll be around for years to come!
I mean, I LOVE arcades, I always have! Throwing quarters at the Asteroid machine is part of my DNA so check out my chat with Brian…
