Florida Man Jumps Between Hotel Balconies To Evade Police
Watch as a Florida Man jumps between hotel balconies to evade police! It’s like something out of a movie, except it didn’t have a happy ending (at least for him).
The viral incident happened at the Godfrey Hotel on Rocky Point in Tampa, Florida. The suspect is believed to have been involved in a spree of robberies across the Tampa area. Clearly, judging by the video, he was not ready to be apprehended.

It looks like something you’d do in a video game to leave the scene. Only in the video game, you’d probably make it without being arrested. Well, that’s not the case for this suspect, who has been identified as Jorge Garcia-Palacio.
In the viral video, you can see a Garcia-Palacio attempting to jump from balcony to balcony to avoid being caught. He’s seen scaling the building trying to get free, but deputies have their eyes on him the whole time. According to WFLA, Garcia-Palacio opened the door for police when they knocked but then immediately locked it after seeing who was at the door. It looks like that’s when he decided to try to flee. He goes from the 6th floor down to the 2nd by scaling the balconies. It’s pretty high up there! I would not want to take that risk. You have to know either way you’re going to be arrested, and I would rather have that happen without breaking my leg or skull. That’s just me, though.
Eventually, he was taken into custody, and he’s now facing multiple charges. Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office shared a video of the incident on their X (formerly Twitter) account. Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister tells Up North Live, “The suspect’s dramatic attempts to escape were no match for our dedicated deputies. The strategic coordination between team HCSO and the Tampa Police Department ensured his capture while prioritizing the safety of our community.”

Don’t try what he tried. You could get seriously injured if you were to slip and fall from that height and possibly even die. It’s not worth it! The rails could easily be slippery with some Florida rain or something that could send you falling down to the ground.
Garcia-Palacio was booked into the Falkenburg Road Jail on counts of burglary, armed robbery, and aggravated assault, per Up North Live. You can see Garcia-Palacio’s mugshot provided by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office below.
