Onto Game 7: Rangers Force Deciding Clash with Devils
RANGERS 5 – DEVILS 2
It will come down to a seventh game. Did you expect anything less between these two bitter rivals?
The New York Rangers stormed back with a vengeance to take Game 6 of this Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Series with the New Jersey Devils by a score of 5-2 in front of a frenzied house at Madison Square Garden.
After Curtis Lazar staked the Devils to an early 1-0 lead, the Rangers scored five unanswered goals over the course of the next three periods, all while knocking out the once impenetrable 22-year-old Devils Akira Schmid in the third period.
Chris Kreider knotted the game up at one with his sixth goal of this series on a power play with just 25 seconds left in the first period. That goal energized MSG and the Rangers before intermission. They never looked back.
Mika Zibanejad gave the Rangers the lead for the first time when he took a pass from Kreider and flicked the puck into the net to make it 2-1 Blue Shirts.

Vladimir Tarasenko, Barclay Goodwin and Branden Schneider would all follow suit as the Rangers expanded their lead to 5-1.
Even Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was in the stands taking in the contest.
