Good morning, Sports fans and Athletics aficionados! It’s Davey Mac here back with another Sports Report and I’m hurting this morning. Not gonna lie. I’m hurtin’ bad.
And that’s because the Yankees lost to the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS (4 to 2) and the defeat (and the three to five IPA’s that were ingested) have me feeling queasy today.
Future Hall-Of-Famer Justin Verlander was solid on the mound for Houston…as he picked up the win.

Harrison Bader hit yet another home run for the Yanks…as Bader has been incredible in this 2022 MLB Postseason for the Bronx Bombers.
Hopefully his bat can remain hot for the rest of the series…because you need all the offense you can muster against Houston.

Yankee starter Jameson Taillon was not bad. Taillon gave up just the one run but also was pulled in the 5th inning. Reliever Clarke Schmidt got out of the 5th by inducing an inning-ending double play. But Schmidt let up a couple of homers in the next inning.

Aaron Judge was 0 for 4 with a strikeout. If the Yanks are gonna get past the Astros…they’re gonna need Judge to heat up.

All in all…it’s just one game. But the Yankees cannot afford to go too deep into the hole in this series. Houston is just too good of a team. Luis Severino is on the mound tonight for the Yanks. Hopefully he can shut down the Astros and tie up this series. In any event, I’ll be watching every pitch while pacing nervously with a nerf Yankee bat in my hands! Go Yanks! I’m Davey Mac. That’s my two cents.
