It’s Davey Mac here and I’m sort of losing my mind. Seriously. I’ve been a Yankees, Giants, and Knicks fan for my entire life and those teams are causing great mental pain to me lately.
The Giants have been dreadful because of their wildly inept and out-of-it former General Manager Dave Gettleman. Yes, Gettleman was fired before this season began. But the damage he did to the Giants’ roster and payroll has still put the team behind the eight pool.
Meanwhile, the Yankees…the one team I’ve always been able to count on to give me joy rather than misery…well, friends…the Yankees are choking right in front of our eyes. The Yanks had a FIFTEEN-game lead over the entire division…and are now clinging to a six-game lead over the Rays. Yankee GM Brian Cashman has done a horrendous job in reinforcing this team with extra talent to put the Yankees over the top. And owner Hal Steinbrenner is cheap.
That takes me to the Knicks…and how THEY just blew it and have made me depressed. The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired superstar guard Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz. The reason I bring this up is that Mitchell is from New York…and grew up loving the Knicks and wanting to be a Knick…and he’s 25 years old and averaged 25 points and 5 assists a game…and yet the Knicks freakin’ lost out on this guy to the Cavs?! We were told the Knicks were aggressively pursuing this fantastic talent! Wha’ happened?! I’ll tell you…James Dolan…the Knicks owner…is one of the worst owners in all of Sports! The Knicks haven’t won a championship since 1973 and yet Dolan is STILL reluctant to go after a top player?!
What are the GM’s and owners in New York doing?! It’s like they hate us! I’m Davey Mac and that’s my two cents!
