It’s Davey Mac here and we’ve got our usual action-packed Sports Report for ya! But first…I gotta tells ya…as a lifelong Yankees fan…I’ve got the queasy feeling that the Yanks are gonna blow it this offseason.
I think the baseball weasel Brian Cashman may indeed lose Aaron Judge to another team. The thought at one time was inconceivable to me. Now? It’s a very real possibility.
Cashman has proven that he has lost his touch. Look…a twenty-four-year career as the Yankees general manager is an amazing run. But it is simply time for a change.
Cashman’s nonsensical trades, terrible acquisitions, confusing maneuvers, and all-around poor performance has wasted the best years of Judge’s career. His awful trades (and terrible extensions) for the likes of Josh Donaldson, Frankie Montas, Aaron Hicks, JOEY GALLO, and more were all bad-to-terrible-to-the-worst trades ever.
Nor do I have any faith in Hal Steinbrenner. The guy just doesn’t seem to have what his father had…a fiery desire to win at all costs. Let’s be honest…the Yankees didn’t get to 27 championships and become, according to Forbes, the most valuable sports franchise in the world by playing it cheap.
But…besides the Gerrit Cole signing…Hal has not shown a propensity to open the wallet and spend the big bucks on superstars. As a result, owners and teams like the Mets, Padres, Dodgers, and more are passing him by.
The fact that’s it even a possibility that the Yanks could blow this deal with Judge…a massively popular star with both the fans and his own teammates…shows you just how much of a mess the Yankees front office truly is.
It’s time for the Yankees to take their head out of the sand. This most recent collapse to the Houston Astros highlighted that the Yankees need a change. Cashman has to go. I’m Davey Mac. That’s my two cents.
