Compiling a list of the Top 7 One Hit Wonder Rock Songs Of The 00s is harder than you think. Well, I took a crack at it and made my list! Man I thought the 90's One Hit Wonder List was hard, this was even more difficult to cut down to just 7 songs!

From the year 2000 through 2009 the Rat had the privilege of playing some amazing rock music. Artists like Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, and Korn, really hit their stride in the 00's.

Foo Fighters "All My Life" 2002

These One Hit Wonders Are Wonderful.

I think the difference between the artists on this list and the 90's list is the overall musicianship and talent level. Some of the 90s artists on my previous list were more a product of the post-grunge times. While many of the top 7 one-hit wonder rock songs of the 00s came out of nowhere with a unique sound all their own. From Rap Rock to Garage Bands, to Metal, and even a band that was just in it for the absurdity of it all. These artists all kind of came from different places on the rock and roll map to make their mark, all be it for one brief shining moment. Like Freaks And Geeks did on television in 2000.

The Good News Is They Still Live On Today.

Some of these top 7 one-hit wonder rock songs of the 00s still get played regularly on the Rat, while others you will hear every once in a blue moon. Personally, they all have a special place for me, as much like you, I remember times in my life when a song was popular on the radio. It's truly amazing how music can mark time, and be a soundtrack to our lives.

I hope you enjoy the Top 7 One Hit Wonder Rock Songs Of The 00s now, almost as much as you did then!

"Butterfly" Crazy Town 2000

Released in February of 2001, this rap rock classic was a banger from the outset, with a sample of the Red Hot Chili Peppers song Pretty Little Ditty throughout the underscore. The late Shifty Shellshock knew he had something, saying "it's a no brainer" and "the female audience loves it". Plus ya gotta love a song with "Tongue Ring" in the lyrics!

"I Believe In A Thing Called Love" The Darkness 2003

Released in September 2003 of of their debut album "Permission To Land". The Brit rockers had a tongue and cheek approach to this one, and singer Justin Hawkin's falsetto vocals on the song made the glam rockers all the rage for a time in '03.

"Party Hard" Andrew W.K. 2001

From the moment this song hit the airwaves in the fall of 2001 it was a massive hit. It had all the ingredients for a successful rock single. A crunchy guitar, commanding vocals, and of course lyrics any young dude in the early 2000's could relate to!

"Stacy's Mom" Fountains Of Wayne 2003

A band from New York, who took their name from a lawn decoration store in Wayne, New Jersey, FOW's front man, the late Adam Schlesinger, said he got the idea from a childhood friend of his, who thought his GRANDMOTHER was hot. Hey, it's only rock n roll.

"Headstrong" Trapt 2002

Just an absolute monster hit for these guys from Los Gatos, California. Easily one of the most requested songs of the fall of 2002. The song became so popular here in Jersey that it became an anthem of sorts for the New Jersey Devils, who routinely played it during games at their old home, The Continental Airlines Arena.

"Bodies" Drowning Pool 2001

Still a highly requested song on the Rat, this should have been the launch of a substantial career for the band out of Dallas. However, the death of lead singer Dave Williams in 2002. Since then the band has remained together touring and recording with different leads.

"Smooth Criminal" Alien Ant Farm 2001

You didn't think we'd forget these guys did you?? You good? Are you ok? Annie? Are you ok? Cali rockers with a cover of MJ that took over the airwaves in the summer of 2001. Another song with a fun video too.

Believe it or not, Jimmy’s first job was overnights at a Christian Radio Station. He claims he got into radio because like Rocky Balboa once said, “cause I can’t sing or dance.” Jimmy loves to write about all local happenings, especially around his town of Toms River. Best Rat Rock Bands: STP, VH, ZEP, PEARL JAM, FOOS, PEPPERS,AC/DC Favorite New Bands: Glorious Sons, Rival Sons, Dirty Honey Most Embarrassing Moment: the moment my mother reads this shit! Best Day: I know a lot of folks say this, but it’s true: the day my little girl Jynell and my boy Big D were born! Next to that, it would have to be the day I was baked on earth day in Central Park and met Keefer Sutherland…baked too, I believe.
