…According to ESPN, the Giants will not place the franchise tag on running back Saquon Barkley…which means Saquon will become an unrestricted free agent….meaning…there is a very good chance that we have seen the last of Barkley in a Giants uniform.

I gotta tell ya…I’m not very pleased about this. Quite frankly, Saquon has been the Giants’ best player since he arrived in Jersey. In his rookie season, Saquon rushed for over 1,300 yards and totaled over 2,000 yards between running and receiving…and had 15 touchdowns (11 running, 4 receiving). In Saquon’s six seasons with the G-Men, he rushed for 35 touchdowns and also had 12 receiving touchdowns.

I’m sure that Giants general manager Joe Schoen knows what he’s doing…but honestly…Saquon makes Daniel Jones a much better quarterback. If Big Blue does indeed lose Saquon when he becomes a free agent…then I think it’s time to turn the page on Daniel, also. Start fresh.

Let’s start with basketball…where the Knicks lost to the Hawks…116 to 100…as the Knicks drop to 36 and 26 for the season.

Meanwhile, the 76’ers were defeated by the Nets…112 to 107. Brooklyn’s Nic Claxton had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win. The Nets improve to 25 and 37. The Sixers drop to 35 and 26.
So looking at the NBA standings, the Knicks are now 5th in the Eastern Conference…the Sixers have fallen to 7th in the East…and the Nets are 11th. Top 10 teams make the playoffs.

Hockey Update
Over to hockey. The Devils lost to the Panthers last night…5 to 3.
The Rangers and Flyers were inactive. The Flyers next hit the ice on Thursday…the Rangers don’t play until Saturday.

Mets Beat Yanks In Spring Training
Baseball. The Mets defeated the Yankees yesterday in Spring Training…5 to 4. Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor each had doubles for the Mets in the win.
The Phillies fell to the Orioles…3 to 2.
