  • Yankee Struggles Continue

Let’s start with baseball…where the Yankees’ offensive slump continues as the Yanks were shut out by the Tampa Bay Rays last night…four to nothing.   Gerritt Cole pitched well for the Yankees…throwing six innings and giving up the one run which only happened in the first inning because Aaron Hicks badly misplayed a fly ball (Hicks had an overall terrible game…also grounding out to force an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded).   The Yankee bullpen did not pitch well and let up three runs.   And as we all know by now…the Yankee lineup is struggling BIG TIME.   The Yanks were shut out for the second straight game…and are now 20 and 26 in their last 46 games.   Still 72 and 44.   But still a brutal to watch right now. It’s not like we wanted the Yankees to get a good hitter at the trade deadline. Oh, wait…me…Davey Mac…went on the air on the Morning Rat Race and BEGGED Yankee GM Brian Cashman to acquire Juan Soto!! But Cashman did NOTHING!! And now we can’t hit!! HELP!!!!!

  • Mets Lose To Braves

Meanwhile, the Mets were crushed by the Braves…13 to 1.   The Mets’ Carlos Carrasco receives the loss.   The Mets are still obviously in good shape at 75 and 41.

  • Phillies Beat Reds

The Phillies beat the Reds…4 to 3.   Ex-Met now-Phillie Noah Syndegaard picked up the win…throwing seven innings, striking out seven, and giving up three runs.   With the victory, the Phillies are back in the second, National League, Wild Card spot.   A half game over the Padres who are in the third spot.

  • McKinney Names Defensive Playcaller

Looks like Giants head coach Brian Daboll may make Giants safety Xavier McKinney the defensive playcaller.   Traditionally this responsibility goes to the linebacker.   So it’s a good sign for McKinney that Daboll is likely going with him for this role…it sorta makes McKinney the defensive captain.

  • Durant Still Feuding With The Nets

The word on the street is that Kevin Durant is currently in a stalemate with Brooklyn Nets management.   Durant wants to be traded if the Brooklyn front office doesn’t fire the head coach and general manager.   Meanwhile, the coach and GM are getting backed by the Nets brass.   Weird situation.
